Jonathan Hannon BA ( Hons ) Principal Designer

Jonathan , an artist and degree trained sculptor is in a unique position. With over 15 years experience caring for fish and coral reef aquariums he knows what looks good and knows how to achieve it. His aim; to produce fantastic, beautiful, living works of art within your home or office.
Trained at Leeds University, Jonathan finished his BA (Hons ) in 1996.
Using this and a passion for the aquatic environment he set about producing aquariums as true to nature as possible.
A keen SCUBA diver Jonathan noticed a vast difference between the real reef in nature and the aquariums we maintain artificially within our homes.
In the past the main problem was simply keeping the animals in good health. Today with the vast improvements in aquatic technology and husbandry this is no longer a problem. The main difference is primarily a visual one. Reefs in the wild are composed of solid structures with large underwater cliff walls, caves and overhangs not the piles of rock and boulders used extensively to ‘aqua-scape’ aquariums today.
To rectify this Jonathan developed a new synthetic rock product to make possible a more natural look for reef or fish only systems.
This award winning development ( see design and aquascaping ) allows Jonathan to use the very same aesthetic and sculpting skills to produce the natural vertical walls, caves and overhangs within your aquarium.
An eye for design and beauty is only one side of the story. To complete the equation Jonathan has extensive hands on experience maintaining these reef animals, from caring for fish through to farming exotic reef corals, starfish and plants.
